Dovydas Kisevicius

Dovydas Kisevicius is training to become a plumber.

Trades World spoke to Dovydas to find out more about his life, changes, and future ambitions in the trades.

What did motivate you to pursue a career in the trades?

I am interested in the trades and would like to be successful in my chosen career.

What jobs or careers have you had before?

I am currently working for a warehouse, delivering furniture.

Do you find some of your skills from your previous profession useful in the trades?

Some of the skills are useful and transferable into the trades.

Have you had any previous experience in the trades?

Not really…I have always been interested in the trades, but wouldn’t say I have had any previous experience.

How are you finding it?

It was challenging at the beginning, especially with the home studying…but when I came to do the practical training in centre, the knowledge I learnt from home made sense and I am really enjoying the overall experience.

What are the things you have been doing in centre?

At the moment we are doing some pipe bending…the tutors are helping us a lot.

What is your plan after you finish your course and become fully qualified plumber?

I would start work for someone else at the beginning, but eventually I would like to have my own company. Also, I am planning to specialise in the gas industry, so I am more skilful and successful.
